Portrayed as an « excellent actress » and « with impeccable projection, style » by Le Devoir, French soprano Juliette Tacchino is pursuing her Masters at the prestigious Curtis Institute of Music.

 

This season, Tacchino embodied Thérèse in Poulenc’s Les Mamelles de Tirésias, Bystroušky in Janáček’s Příhody lišky Bystroušky, and Sophie in the Curtis Symphony Orchestra Spectacular Strauss showcase in Der Rosenkavalier’s Presentation of the Rose under the baton of Yannick Nézet-Séguin. 

Besides these opera performances, Tacchino likes to stand out as a recitalist, and performed at the Woodmere Museum in repertoire ranging from Mozart to Debussy, including Wolf. She particularly excels in early, sacred music repertoire, and « aced » (Opera News) a recent staged production of Handel’s Allegro il Penseroso ed il Moderato conducted by Nicholas McGegan. She also made her soprano soloist debut in Mozart’s Requiem with the Binghamton Philharmonic under the direction of Daniel Hege, and performed The Blessed Virgin Expostulation in a Curtis Recital. Juliette is part of the Opera Fuoco - Atelier Lyrique 6th generation, and was part of the Amor Diletto Florida Tour with David Stern and the Opera Fuoco Obbligato ensemble, interpreting many baroque composers works as Bach, Vivaldi, Campra and Rameau.

 

In the 22/23 season, Tacchino made her Curtis Symphony Orchestra debut with Yannick Nézet-Séguin as Mélisande in Debussy’s Pelléas et Mélisande’s Tower Scene. She also sang Ginevra in Handel’s Ariodante With the Tempesta di Mare baroque orchestra under the baton of David Stern. Tacchino travelled to Montreal, and performed the Mahler 4th Symphony with the Montreal University Orchestra as a guest, conducted by Jean François-Rivest. Passionate about piano-voice collaboration, Juliette participated in masterclasses and worked alongside Graham Johnson, Wolfram Rieger, Jeff Cohen and baryton François LeRoux, in a repertoire of Art Songs Lieder & Mélodies of Schubert, Wolf, Strauss, Fauré Poulenc and Boulanger. She gave a private recital in New York City with pianist Matthieu Cognet, flied to Bruxelles Belgium and was part of the Queen Elisabeth Competition 2023 Voice edition.

 

During 21/22 season, Juliette performed in Europe four Mozart’s Concerts arias, Handel’s Dixit Dominus and Te Deum as soloist invited with the Monte-Carlo Chamber music Orchestra in South of France. She attended the Orford Music Summer Academy with baryton Christian Immler and collaborative pianist Francis Perron.

Throughout her education at the University of Montreal, Juliette was part of the Opera Studio, and made her debut in Purcell’s The Fairy Queen, embodied Phani in Rameau’s Les Indes Galantes, Pauline in Offenbach’s La Vie Parisienne and Ilia in Mozart’s Idomeneo, conducted by Jean-François Rivest with the Montreal University Orchestra. She won 1st place at the Opera Bouffe de Québec Competition, and is a recipient of the Louise Roy scholarship and the Azrieli Foundation. She carries many mentors, and worked closely with Norah Amsellem, Dalton Baldwin, Lauren Nubar, Rosemary Landry, Joan Patenaude-Yarnell, Claire Brua among many others…
